You know, sometimes when it rains, it pours. Why can't it just sprinkle now and then? An FYI - the hardest thing anyone will ever do is get involved in youth sports. It is one thing making decisions about your own kid. It is another when you are making those decisions about everyone elses kid. In fact, I'm even thinking of pulling myown because I don't like the way some of the other people work. Dirty play is a taught activity. It isn't something naturally given within the genes like or develops over time. I got into youth sport to teach teamwork and fundamentals. In football, that got me to 1-9. The other team is bigger, rougher and meaner. But they also play dirty. Do I stoop down to that level, or do I walk away? These kids have to defend themselves, and sometimes I walk away from them wondering if I taught them the right way to go about doing that.
And, is all-stars THAT big of a deal? Is it time to move on? You know - some things are a big deal. Some things aren't. And in the grand scheme of things, I think I know what I am doing...maybe not with wins and losses...but with having fun and liking the game. Isn't that the point?
